The great thing about communications is how broad it is. Although some people may see it as a draw back, having a large broadness to it gives communications majors something no other degree major can get at the same scale, Opportunity. The opportunity to break into any field, of any company. Communications is the door to open all other doors.
To see just how varied the students here at the Jack J Valenti school are in their dreams for future job prospects, I asked a number of students where they wanted to go after graduation.
Katie W. a student at the Jack J Valenti school of communications when asked about where she wanted to work gave two incredible responses; she first would love to work at either the public relations or media team for a prominent makeup company like Sephora for example. Katie has a deep interest in makeup and would absolutely enjoy the environment there. Secondly she would love to work in public relations or the media team for a video game company. The great thing about communications is that both of these doors our open to her through Jack J Valenti.
Derek C. another student at Jack j Valenti school of communications is an avid fan of sports. A big fan of the Astros, the Texans among others, Derek would love to see himself in the seat at a network like ESPN as a sports commentator. Being able to work in and be involved in something he's been obsessed with his whole life is his dream.
These are just two examples that highlight the great thing about communications. That there is no limit to your options with it. Students who have dreams big and small, far and wide, can accomplish them through the skills and degree they earn at the Jack J Valenti school of communications.
There are thousands of students who go through the school of communications at the University of Houston each year. Imagine how many dreams have been fufilled through it. That is what makes the Jack J Valenti school of communications so special.
