Nov 30 2021 Blog 9 Students and their favorites of the semester Brandon Bearden With the Fall 2021 semester finally coming to a close, I thought now would be the perfect opportunity to go around and ask individual students at the Jack J. Valenti School of Communications what their favorite moments / assignments / classes of the semester have been. Out of all the ups and downs of the semester, covid-19 hitting the start of the semester, etc. I was surprised that many students have a mostly positive view of this fall semester. Eric, a student of the Jack J. Valenti school said that he had a great semester, "most of my classes were easy,... all my professors were nice. It was pretty good.". Even with the start of the semester being hammered by covid with late starts, he still held a very positive view. Eric has even gone above and beyond with regards to the Valenti school and joined a advertising club. A club he says he is enjoying very much. That same positive view of the sem

Self reflection, my personal thoughts on the school of communictions.

Self reflection blog post Nov 27 Brandon Bearden  As I approach my final semester at the Jack J. Valenti school of communications, I thought I would dedicate this blog post here at the final stretch of this class to my own personal thoughts on the school, its professors, the facility and overall school as a whole.  I personally growing up never saw college as something I would actually attend. I detested schooling. I daydreamed through my classes in junior high and high school. Though I wasn't a bad student grades or otherwise, it just wasn't something I enjoyed. So when I did enter college, first as the lone star college community system. I was pleasantly surprised by just how much more engaging and laid back / fun it could be compared to high school.  That same engaging atmosphere transferred over to the Valenti school of communications. Communications is inherently to me, a much more engaging and fun skill and set of classes to learn, i enjoy talking and much of the classes

Hypothetical improvements. Ways to change the school for the better.

Hypothetical imporvements, ways to change the school for the better. blog post 6 - Brandon Bearden The Jack J. Valenti school of Communications is now encroaching on almost fifty years of consecutive teaching at the University of Houston. An astounding record of improving the educational prowess of its students, the Jack J. Valenti school is more than deserving of a facilities update. Other schools and departments of received new levels of funding, instructional development and new buildings. The Jack J. Valenti should have its turn next. So what improvements should be made if the school got its chance to develop and expand further? First and foremost I believe that a building expansion should be done to allow communications programs to be centered at the school. For example the Houston Cougar is not based within the Jack J. Valenti school. It would be much better to have the paper within the school itself. The second thing i would do is create an outreach department within the school

Dreams of Valenti! Why communications is so great!

Dreams of Valenti! What are students aspiring to for their future?  Post 3  By Brandon Bearden The great thing about communications is how broad it is.
